Quotient of the change in an indication of a measuring system and the corresponding change in a value
of a quantity being measured.

Note 1: Sensitivity of a measuring system can depend on the value of the quantity being measured.
Note 2: The change considered in a value of a quantity being measured must be large compared with
the resolution.

Note 3: Sensitivity of a measuring system can be obtained from the slope of the calibration curve.
Note 4: Sensitivity of a measuring system should not be confused with diagnostic sensitivity in
laboratory medicine.
Note 5: Sensitivity of a measuring system should not be confused with limit of detection or limit of
quantification.
Note 6: In analytical chemistry sensitivity may be termed „analytical sensitivity“.
